ROOT 5.11/06 with Qt/layer for Win32 has been released

The version of ROOT 5.11/06 with Qt/Root layer for Windows has been released

Click http://root.bnl.gov/QtRoot/downloads/root.5.11.06.exe to install This is the experimental version (one is advised to uninstall the previous ROOT installation first):

• compiled by VC++ 8.0 (first time) in optimized mode
• based on new version of Qt 3.3 - Qt 3.3.6; http://doc.trolltech.com/3.3/index.html
• includes the new QGLViewer v.2.2.1 compatible with Qt4 3D engine; http://artis.imag.fr/Members/Gilles.Debunne/QGLViewer
• includes qtcint.dll - the RootCint dictionary to use the main Qt classes from the ROOT command prompt http://root.bnl.gov/QtRoot/htmldoc/src/qtclasses.h.html
• base on the robust single thread low level graphical layer (I.e. it uses exactly the same code as X11 does). That should eliminate some troubles especially pronounced with multi-core and multiCpu hardware It should be less (if any) difference between the user code behavior under Win32 / Unix / MacOS. Unix and MacOS use the single thread low level graphical layer (both X11 as well as Qt-based)
• The Qt 4.1.2 composition mode and alpha color component for all ROOT TPad primitives available http://doc.trolltech.com/qq/qq17-compositionmodes.html (needs re-compilation against Qt 4.1.2 though)

Please report any problem. If there will be no "heavy bug reports" the VC++7 compiler and other obsolete components are to be retired.
