Hello Valeri,

I am interested in official support of FITS in ROOT too. Because my experiment group (in cosmic ray community) uses FITS for data archive.
However FITS is not just a 2D image format like other format e.g. JPEG, GIF and so on.

Since FITS is very simple binary data, it will be not hard to implement FITS support in TImage/TASImage. But I think supports in only TImage/TASImage is not enough to utilize the full power of FITS.
