All applications I've mentioned are real world programs, Eclipse, NetBeans, TogetherJ, NeoOffice (OpenOffice for MacOSX) are for the average PC users. They all have huge user base. Sorry, most of them are free - is it a problem ?

It's WRONG. I've mentioned just several examples. Most real world applications are multi-language, with components in C/C++/C#, Java, Lisp,...
