problem in installaling root

Dear Rooters,

                I am installing root version 5.16 on MacBook having MAC OS
10.4.10 ,
                I have gcc-3.3 and gcc-4.0 .
                Installation was done without any problem .
                But when i write root in my shell  .its showing the message

:

               root: can't figure out DISPLAY, set it manually
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
///////////////////////

             Can anybody tell me how to fix it .
