Continuity of a function

Hi All,
I am fitting a histogram with two different functions in two subranges say x < x_1 and x > x_1. My question is how can I remove the discontinuty at x=x_1? In other words how can I set, the value of the function at x=x_1, obtained from x > x_1 parameterization, to be equal to the one obtained from the parametrization for x < x_1.
