installing network on Linux

Hello
I have installed Cern Linux on my laptop but I can not connect to internet. I think it does not identify the chip.
Since the chips on laptop are onboard I can not add anymore chip. Is this problem related to the model of my laptop? It is Dell ,Vostro 1510
what should I do?
