Are you sure that your code worked with 5.16? Please read the 5.16 release notes and see the section "new class TCoplorWheel" at http://root.cern.ch/root/Version516.news.html

I cannot reproduce your problem with TLatex. I do not see the "minus" sign overlapping the varphi.

Please submit a running script showing your problem, Olivier will investigate on Monday.
