Hello,

>>>Did you clean-up your directory geant3 before installing the new version.

I am trying to install fresh in a new PC.

for geant3

I did svn check out --- Same error
downloaded tar ball --- Same error

>>could be a problem with the root installation.

I am installing root with following configure parameter.

./configure \

      --with-pythia6-uscore=SINGLE \
      --with-f77=g77 \
      --enable-roofit --enable-minuit2 --enable-table

>>Which fortran compiler are you using?

[alice_at_localhost geant3]$ g77 -v

Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/3.4.6/specs Configured with: ../configure --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man

--infodir=/usr/share/info --enable-shared --enable-threads=posix
--disable-checking --with-system-zlib --enable-__cxa_atexit
--disable-libunwind-exceptions --enable-languages=c,c++,f77 --disable-libgcj
--host=x86_64-redhat-linux

Thread model: posix
gcc version 3.4.6 20060404 (Red Hat 3.4.6-4)
