ROOT compilation question under different operating systems

Hi All

I'm part of an IT team of an institution (LIP) supporting LHC and other CERN users. Some of our users complained that SLC 4 was not a good desktop machine, and therefore, we have installed Fedora 10 for these unhappy users. However, these few "Fedora users" want now to run "ROOT" in their desktops. We were able to compile ROOT (version 5.22) with gcc-4.1.2-33 distributed with Fedora 10. However, I have the idea that ROOT is somehow "certified" for the gcc version in SL4. Is this the case? Do you foresee any issue running ROOT under Fedora 10?

Thank in Advance for any clarification... Best Regards
