Ok, thanks. No big rush for gcc4.4.0, we are focused on pushing out 4.3.2 at the moment, I was just trying 4.4.0 because "it was there".

I've not tried it. Giulio and Lassi (on the CC) did some initial studies with static binaries, where it would matter, in CMS, but I don't believe they tried it, either. (They can confirm/deny.)
It is on the list of things to try when we get that going again, though... ;-)
