You are more than welcome of course to contribute to the ROOT project. If you do so, it would be good if you could give more details about your plans and post your progress at
regular intervals.
If your target is to propose at some point the inclusion of your work in the ROOT source, you should follow
the ROOT coding conventions from the beginning.

Let us know if you need more information and good luck with your project.
