Linux/gcc question: how to check the memory size associated with a pointer?

Dear ROOTers,

I'm wondering if there is a way in Linux/GCC to check what memory size is associated with a pointer, like malloc_usable_size(const void *ptr) function in MacOS. Sorry for asking a question not directly related to ROOT,
