Hello dear Users. Thanks the Voropaev's (<voropaev@inp.nsk.su>) "Bug report" and his hard pressure I've found some solution of the nasty "color palette problem" to reduce the conflicts between ROOT and other "color intensive" applications (for example like Microsoft Internet explorer, Windows 95 desktop etc) with "256 colors" video mode. Since Fons has gone for a vacation I took a liberty and made it available via my personal Web home page. http://nicewww.cern.ch/~fine/www/root_v1.02.x86.Windows_NT.exe http://nicewww.cern.ch/~fine/www/root_v1.02.setup_NT.bat To install follow our instruction from the "official" place: http://root.cern.ch/root/Version102.html (It is available via CERN NICE NT / NICE 95 PC network system too) I'll appreciate a lot our Windows users will download it and trial with 256 colors modes and with the different applications running simultaneously on the desktop. I'd like to mention that the better solution will be delivered when we will optimize our "ROOT color palette" inherited from CERNLIB/HIGZ Fortran package. We are going to replace it with so-called "standard" one. The last is adopted with all current "Web" masters (Netscape, Microsoft Explrorer etc) and we expect it will reduce the "color" conflicts (under UNIX and under Windows) between those Web viewers and running ROOT-based applications at least (and with the most Windows applications too). I am looking forward hearing your kind feedback soon With my best regards, Valery ================================================================= Dr. Valery Fine Telex : 911621 dubna su ----------- LCTA/Joint Inst.for NuclearRes Phone : +7 09621 6 40 80 141980 Dubna, Moscow region Fax : +7 09621 6 51 45 Russia mailto:fine@main1.jinr.dubna.su Dr. Valeri Faine ------------ Phone: +41 22 767 6468 CERN FAX : +41 22 767 7910 CH-1211 Geneva, 23 mailto:fine@mail.cern.ch Switzerland http://nicewww.cern.ch/~fine
