Hi Sergey,

   either Linux distribution will work well for ROOT. However, we use
ourselves RedHat to develop ROOT and also RedHat is the "official"
supported CERN distribution (CERN Linux User's Group together with IT
will distribute a special CERN version of RedHat, including AFS, SUE, 
CERNLIB, etc.).
