Hi Bruce,

   it is not an acronym, just a name. The idea is to make a system that
provides a solid ROOT on which other systems can grow (as you can see
with Trees, Branches and Leafs we are deep in the fauna nomenclature -:)).

Also, the name ROOT contains nicely the letters OO of Object Oriented.
