Hi Norbert,

   Kris Hagel (hagel@comp.tamu.edu) from Texas A & M University was,
together with a student, working on this. We've included all their
VMS changes in our source tree. However, since I don't have VMS to try 
it on I don't know how it works. Maybe Kris can answer this.
