Version 2.00/10 has been installed today.
See
http://root.cern.ch/root/html/examples/V2.00.txt.html
release notes for a description of the changes.

Due to an upgrade of our machines to Linux Redhat5, we have lost access
to a Redhat4.2 machine. The file on the Web for Redhat4.2 is still the
old
version 2.00/09. However, the distribution kit includes the Makefile
to build Root under Redhat4.2

The next release 2.00/11 is scheduled for end August.
We hope to include in this next release a Latex formula processor
such that formula including subscripts/superscripts, fractions,
Intregrals, Sums, etc will be supported both on the screen
and Postscript.
Our current prototype follows the Latex notation. However, Latex
expects the character \ (backslash) as a escape character for several
operators. The backslash is not a convenient escape character for C++
because it has to be escaped itself in character strings.
We would welcome comments and suggestions on this topic.
