Windows/Visual C++ "bug" problems

  Hello root-folk,

  On the Web page:
  http://www.troll.no/platforms/vcpp.html

  I found:

  "Visual C++ 5.0 has a bug regarding expansion of inline functions
   which may lead to incorrect behavior. Install Service Pack 3 to
   fix this."

   It may cause the problem some our Windows users complain about
since the "Service Pack 3" was not applied at CERN. This may explain
why we never saw those at Brookhaven National Lab since we have been
working with Service Pack 3.

  Therefore I would advice ROOT team and all ROOT users those who
compile thier own ROOT-based DLL's and programs upgrade VC++ 5.0
installation with this "Service Pack 3" as soon as possible.

   I hope this helps,
            With my regards,
                          VAlery
