Well, if you only have access to a black&white terminal, you cannot
use the color features.
When running on a black&white terminal, we recommend the following
set up (may be in your rootlogon.C file)
  gROOT->SetStyle("Plain");
  gStyle->SetFillColor(0);

Fons will reply to your TGTab problem.
