  Hi Marc,
I had also spent some time trying to force ATLFAST++ to work together with
PYTHIA and ROOT under Windoze or NT. The solution I choose is very simple:
to install Linux (My intention was to use PC for students training with
Windows, but to install Linux as the second OS was the simplest solution).
The problem was that even when I resolve some installation problems of
Pythia and ATLFAST++ (with kind support of Valery Fine) I was not able
to work with ATLFAST++ in interactive, graphics mode due to some basic
difference in UNIX and Windows "threading" (sorry, I am not an expert, but
Valery explain me that that is the fact :( )
The only you can do is to use Pythia with ATLFAST++ and root to generate
events and data analysis, but not the
ATLFAST++ event display! (at least this is was my conclusion).
You should also take into account that ATLFAST++ was released 1.5 years
ago and has not changed since then, while root evolves significantly - thi
is the reason of installation troubles.

         Best regards,
