Hi Norbert,
make sure gPad points to the pad in question, then:

TPaveText *stats = (TPaveText*)gPad->GetPrimitive("stats");
stats->SetTextSize(0.03);

should work.

The attributes of the statbox are also modifyable via TStyle.
