Since the US HENP ROOT Users Workshop at Fermilab in March, we have been working on documentation to introduce ROOT. We now published two sets of documents, a "Getting Started with ROOT" guide and an "Introduction to ROOT" course. Both are now available from the Web at: http://www-pat.fnal.gov/root/ "Introduction to ROOT" is a hands-on class we give at Fermilab. It lasts about three hours and gets you started with ROOT quickly. The website has the slides, the exercises, and the examples. It has everything you need to learn the basics and/or teach the course. "Getting Started with ROOT" is an excellent, short guide written by Elaine Lyons to get you started with ROOT. It is more verbose than the slides from the class and covers much of the same and some additional material. If you plan to use our material to organize a course, please let us know. We are planning a second class some time in the fall that will cover the more advanced features of ROOT such as I/O and Trees. Comments and questions are always welcome and should be sent to about-root@fnal.gov. Philippe Canal (pcanal@fnal.gov) Suzanne Panacek (spanacek@fnal.gov) Peter Malzacher (malzache@fnal.gov)
