<pre> hi Krzysztof. i'm assuming you're running ROOT and netscape at the same time, with an 8-bit color map. if that's true, then there are 2 things you can do to help: 1. use ROOT 2.22/09 or later. these newer versions save cells in the color map (on displays with 8 color planes) by not allocating a new "darker color" and a new "lighter color" for each of the 50 "normal colors". 2. put this in your .Xdefaults file: Netscape*maxImageColors:48 then netscape will only allocate 48 colors for displaying gifs and jpegs, plus some more for its gui. the disadvantage is that images will be dithered to fewer colors so they won't look as good... but at least you don't get those annoying messages. -- christian. </pre>
