Hi Rene, thanks for you support. I replaced the string by "" and by "1", both yield the same result: root [3] plottest() Warning in <TH1::Build>: Replacing existing histogram: q21 TH1.Print Name= q21, Total sum= 37391 fSumw[0]=26189 fSumw[1]=16000 fSumw[2]=13505 fSumw[3]=7886 fSumw[4]=179 Warning in <TH1::Build>: Replacing existing histogram: q22 TH1.Print Name= q22, Total sum= 52857 fSumw[0]=36714 fSumw[1]=22431 fSumw[2]=19109 fSumw[3]=11317 fSumw[4]=267 Warning in <TH1::Build>: Replacing existing histogram: q22a TH1.Print Name= q22a, Total sum= 23941 fSumw[0]=15510 fSumw[1]=10190 fSumw[2]=8481 fSumw[3]=5270 fSumw[4]=120 Warning in <TH1::Build>: Replacing existing histogram: q22b TH1.Print Name= q22b, Total sum= 23770 fSumw[0]=15638 fSumw[1]=10025 fSumw[2]=8719 fSumw[3]=5026 fSumw[4]=140 Warning in <TH1::Build>: Replacing existing histogram: q22c TH1.Print Name= q22c, Total sum= 35710 fSumw[0]=23493 fSumw[1]=15129 fSumw[2]=12752 fSumw[3]=7829 fSumw[4]=152 Warning in <TH1::Build>: Replacing existing histogram: q23 TH1.Print Name= q23, Total sum= 71099 fSumw[0]=47317 fSumw[1]=29811 fSumw[2]=26009 fSumw[3]=15279 fSumw[4]=358 Warning in <TH1::Build>: Replacing existing histogram: q2a TH1.Print Name= q2a, Total sum= 91452 fSumw[0]=318947 fSumw[1]=38991 fSumw[2]=33258 fSumw[3]=19203 fSumw[4]=446 This is completely nuts ... up to now i got a result, which only contained the information of the first two files ... now this is only true for the bins [3] and [4], for the bins [1] and [2] and the total sum the number is a bit larger and for bin [0] ... no comment I checked the numbers of the first three files with paw ... they agree to the ROOT output. Maybe one small remark ... due to a bug in my program, LRECL is 256 (as PAW told me ....). I hope that this is not the problem for ROOT. Hope that helps in understanding the problem. > Hi Thomas, > Your result below indicates that the weight you use in your selection > contains negative values.
