> Hi Stefan, > We provide a makefile to install Root under SuSe. > Did you use this makefile ? > > Rene Brun Hello Rene, No, because I gessed the makefile Makefile.linuxsuse6 is for: "Makefile of ROOT for Linux with glibc and egcs (SuSE v6.0)" and I have an old Version of SuSE (5.x) and no egcs compiler installed here and I cannot change it, because it's a DESY installation (no root rights for me). I used the makefile Makefile.linux for the Version 2.21/08 on my PC and I never had problems, using ROOT, so I took this makefile again, assuming that this will work also fine for the version 2.23/07. But this time I failed in producing a running ROOT version on my machine. After your mail I tried to compile with the SuSE linux Makefile. Unfortunately the result is the same: root [0] TBrowser *b = new TBrowser(); Fatal in <operator delete>: storage area overwritten aborting Any ideas? (By the way: I had no crypt.h file and crypt libraries on my system, so I removed these things from the files. I was also forced to define some parameters as int's or size_t's like in this case ROOTD_net.cxx:210: `socklen_t' undeclared (first use this function) for example. These where the only changes I had to make and version 2.21/08 was running good with them) Thanks and all the best, Stephan +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | | | Stephan Hurling | | | | DESY Telephone: **49 40 8998 3461 | | Group FH1, Build. 1b/343 FAX : **49 40 8998 4385 | | Notkestrasse 85 | | | | D-22607 Hamburg (Germany) e-mail :hurling@mail.desy.de | | | | | +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+
