I was unable to reproduce your problem.
It seems to me  it has nothing to do with the number of TCanvas's
I was flooding my screen with number of Canvases and met no troubles 
(but lost myself between those canvases ;-)
I wonder there is another reason within your code.
Could you supply further information to me directly
at fine@bnl.gov
