Could you indicate which package versions you used? (geant3, ROOT, etc) Did you install from source? or from the binary tar files? Did you run make in the geant3/examples directory? What was the output of make? (any complaints).

Note that we do not support anymore linking with the old hbook library. In principle
we have dummy routines that are linked when building the gexam examples. Did you modify the Makefile?
