Hi,

As far as I know the way Windows DLL's are generated was changed
recently and requires CYGWIN layer now. It is not clear whether
the end-user should install this layer too. What are the
compilation options now. How do they differ from the previous
ones ?

The generic rule for C++ applications (i.e. for ROOT based application)
is those applications must be compiled the same way the ROOT DLL's
were done. Did the ROOT team at CERN checked whether one can build
his/her application with no Cygwin involved ?

Alas myself can not check this since I can not install Cygwin on my
box at the moment (to avoid a clash with other applications).

                  Valery
