Hi Brett,

nice you get it working. I tried to do the same but
I simply copy and     paste Denis' changes in root 3.0
without invoking cvs diff. Perhaps I missed something. 
I've got the code compiled as well as qtroot test but 
the test did not work for me producing an empty and 
transparent canvas.

Could you send me your merged files?
