I know the existance of a 'i18n' specification, that is the most widely used standard at least by GNU softwares. The LANG shell variable uses some standard I dont know about, except that LANG=fr is for french, LANG=en for english. It seems to be widely in use on all unix I know, so maybe it's a POSIX specification. There are certainly people here that know that better than me. Yannick
