[ROOT] problems with rootcint on NT

Dear RootTalkers
I am using Root version 2_25_03 on an NT box.
When trying to use rootcint in the form:
i) rootcint -f OUTPUTFILE.cxx -c HEADER1.h ..... HEADERn.h linkdef.h
or
ii) rootcint -f OUTPUTFILE.cxx HEADER1.h ..... HEADERn.h linkdef.h
even on a single trivial dummy header file rootcint produces
an Application Error and give a message like:
"The instruction at "Ox77f6753b" referenced memory at "0x00000034".
The memory could not be read.

The OUTPUTFILE.cxx in case i) contains what I guess are the
"Interpreter message stubs" but none of the normal dictionary functions
like Class_Name or Streamer

In case ii) the OUTPUTFILE.cxx is completely empty.

When executing the same rootcint commands on a Linux RedHat 6 box the
dictionaries get generated just fine.

Bug in the Windows version?
Some configuration I should use?
Does rootcint have some incompatibilities with compiler systems?
There are both DeveloperStudio 5 and 6 versions installed on my machine!

Any help is highly welcome,
cheers Armin
