Hi David,

   for easy distribution we link ROOT's libRGL.so statically with Mesa.
This is a software version which makes obviously no use of any special
hardware. To have ROOT use the accelerated OpenGL you'll have to rebuild
it from source. Make in that case sure that ./configure finds the right
OpenGL libs.

What OpenGL card are you using? I am looking for a good card myself.
Preferably one that works with accellerated XFree86 4.
