I was certainly expecting this reaction ::)

Concerning the use of Gdk by Bertrand (or more generally TVirtualX
on Windows), the Gdk interface must be modified if you want to get the
performance.
In addition, the most complex stuff has to do with threads (as explained by
Valery). Even if you have a fully compliant Gdk implementaion, you
still have to use threads under Windows.
