There is an OpenInventor based viewer, but it is not build by default.
To get it do the following:

- install OpenInventor, this requires the setting of IVROOT, e.g.:
   export IVROOT=~/src/inventor
- install ROOT. The Makefile will check for IVROOT being set and
  in that case build the OpenInventor viewer.
- access the viewer by selecting the OpenGL viewer menu item in the
  TCanvas

We plan to make this procedure easier in the future.
