As I already told you, we do not support anymore Solaris 5.6.
We support only Solaris 5.7 and 5.8 with CC5.2 (note 5.2 not 5.0)
The latest version running under Solaris is 3.02/06 that you can download
from http://root.cern.ch/root/Version303.html
look for " Sun SPARC Solaris 5.6 with CC4.2, version 3.02/06"

The current CVS version is certainly not compiling anymore
with the old Solaris compiler CC4.2 or CC5.0.
