Hello, this problem is quite frequent while working with old NCD terminals. Maybe this is your case. In general ROOT graphical implementation for X11 has complains about old window managers. To have more details I suggest you to have a look to RootTalk Digest Archives where there are several discussion about this problem. Usually the simplest solution to cut up the problem is to close any application like Netscape or Acroread if running on the same account with ROOT: in the mentioned above situation they conflict with it.
