[ROOT] Creating a graph or histogram from raw data

Hi there, I am recently starting to use ROOT and I wish to jump into some
matters right away.  I have a very simple question:  what do I have to do in
order to get a file consisting of raw data to be an input for ROOT for plotting
either a graph or a histogram?
