Hi Thomas,

I just tried:

   TLatex l;
   l.DrawLatex(0.1,0.7,"#infty^{#circ}");

with ROOT 3.05/05 on Linux. It works for me. Can you send me a little 
example (which I can execute) reproducing your problem ?
