Hello,

I am trying to compile root 3.10/01 from source in a machine with the
2.4.20 kernel and gcc 3.2.3. So I unpacked the source from:

root_v3.10.01.source.tar.gz

which is put in a directory called /homes/markhod/root. The procedure I
then follow is to set ROOTSYS to /homes/markhod/root. Then inside this
directory I do './configure' (with no options) followed by gmake. gmake
produces a lot of messages like:

Makefile:307: gpad/src/TGroupButton.d: No such file or directory
Makefile:307: gpad/src/TInspectCanvas.d: No such file or directory
Makefile:307: gpad/src/TPad.d: No such file or directory

Eventually gmake crashes with :

cp hbook/inc/THbookKey.h include/THbookKey.h
cp hbook/inc/THbookTree.h include/THbookTree.h
build/unix/depend.sh main/src/ssh2rpd.d "-pipe -Wall -W
-Woverloaded-virtual -fPIC -Iinclude -D_REENTRANT" main/src/ssh2rpd.cxx >
main/src/ssh2rpd.d
gmake: *** [main/src/ssh2rpd.d] Error 127

Is the procedure I follow to compile root correct? If so, why am I haveing
problems running gmake? Or should I do something different to the abpve
prescription?

Thanks,

Mark
