Yes I recently installed ROOT on ubuntu and you will have to install libX11 which is not a problem. Go to System, then to administration, then to synaptic package manager, search for libX11 and install all that is required. It took me a while to figure out what all package to install. If someone has a simpler recipe to find out what are packages necessary for root it will be very helpful...
