I have installed the root binary on my RHEL 5 64 bit (x86) machine from root_v5.27.06.Linux-slc5_amd64-gcc4.3.tar. All went OK, "thisroot.sh" sourced fine with no errors (I am running bash). However, on starting root I got the following errors:

/u1/ki/elliott/Root5.27.06/root/bin/root.exe: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by /u1/ki/elliott/Root5.27.06/root/lib/libCore.so)
/u1/ki/elliott/Root5.27.06/root/bin/root.exe: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by /u1/ki/elliott/Root5.27.06/root/lib/libCint.so)
/u1/ki/elliott/Root5.27.06/root/bin/root.exe: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by /u1/ki/elliott/Root5.27.06/root/lib/libMathCore.so)
/u1/ki/elliott/Root5.27.06/root/bin/root.exe: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by /u1/ki/elliott/Root5.27.06/root/lib/libRint.so)

On searching for libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9 it was not on my machine (an earlier version was). On searching the standard resources for downloading and installing the new version of libstdc++ it does not currently seem to be available for RHEL5 or scientific linux. How do I get a copy of this version of the library for RHEL 5? Thanks,
Elliott Bloom
