root rpms

Hi all,

I'm new to root mailing list, so first of all, let me introduce myself: my name is Arnua Bria, I'm currently working at pic (IFAE) and I've recently "inherited" a little root (proof) farm.

Old admin used to install root from sources. A simple configure + gmake. But I'd like to use rpm so I could easily manage root versions with puppet and, more importnant, regular unix paths.

So, I followed INSTALL instructions and were able to generate 3 rpms (after solving some issues, like root fonts, or some configure options inside spec file):

57M -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 57M Aug 23 15:45 libroot-static-5.30.01-1.x86_64.rpm
32K -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 29K Aug 23 15:43 root-system-5.30.01-1.x86_64.rpm
15M -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 15M Aug 23 15:43 root-system-debuginfo-5.30.01-1.x86_64.rpm

Notice root-system size.... 29K ...

So, I think I'm having too much problems for building root rpms, and, if I have to it every time a new relase (or patched release) is released this could become a pain in the neck.

So, I'm wondering is someone provides reasonable up2date and trustly root rpms somewhere or any other common packaging system (like .deb, maybe alien could do some work there).

Many thanks in advance,
Cheers,
