Fedora already distributes root through its repositories. You could build the source rpm on your platform. If you are on some form of Scientific Linux machine you can even install it with a simple yum install by adding the Fedora EPEL repository. The package is maintained by Mattias Ellert of Uppsala University (not sure though).
