Hello! I'm having problems with rootd of version 1.03/03 on Sun (SunOS 5.5.1) and SGI (IRIX 5.3). Both machines are using AFS 3.4. The client was a Linux machine without AFS using ROOT 1.03/04. On the SGI I'm not able to authenticate: Error in <TNetFile::Authenticate>: wrong passwd Error in <TNetFile::TNetFile>: autentication failed for host y4me On the Sun the authentication works fine but there is a <defunct> process left for each closed TNetFile: UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD casties 10611 8896 0 0:00 <defunct> casties 9265 8896 0 0:00 <defunct> [lots more...] casties 11833 6621 0 17:10:09 pts/36 0:00 egrep (PID|cas) casties 8896 1 0 14:53:20 ? 0:00 rootd -p 5151 casties 6621 6580 0 13:13:41 pts/36 0:01 -zsh The processes disappear when the deamon is killed. Otherwise this is a very nice feature (since I don't have access to AFS on my Linux-PC :-) Have there been any changes in rootd since 1.03/03? Might it be worth trying rootd of 1.03/04? Cheers Robert
