May be you should enlight your friend that there is WIN32 API and
there is MFC both are parts of VC++.

To compile ROOT for Windows very VC++ is used. To build 3D
objects the OpenGL library from MSVC is used too.
But I'd like to mention that x3d classes have not been used
to build 3D charts yet.

From another hand MFC has NO classes to create and manage 3D
objects at all. So no MFC can help him to draw it.

Therefore I don't see what the your friend's professor is worrying
about Well may be he meant Direct3D not MFC but it is another story.
Since ROOT is a cross-platform package we can not use Direct3D but
the standard OpenGL only.

From another hand the ROOT is a collection of the standard WIN32
DLLs (built with VC++) and this means (in theory at least) one can
call any ROOT function from within any Windows application.

  With my regards,
                              prof. Valery Fine
