RPMS of ROOT 2.23.04 are available for RedHat Linux 6.0 Intel at ftp://ftp.slac.stanford.edu/users/langston/root/. In case it isn't obvious, you don't have to manually download the RPMS before installing them (unless you enjoy making extra work for yourself, and you want to waste space on your hard drive). Just install them over the net with the commands that follow. If you want to replace your existing version of ROOT with this newer version, then use the following commands: $ rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.slac.stanford.edu/users/langston/root/root-2.23.04-1.i386.rpm $ rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.slac.stanford.edu/users/langston/root/root-examples-2.23.04-1.i386.rpm If instead you want to keep your existing version of ROOT (e.g. because you know it works), but you still want to try out the newer version of ROOT, then *install* the newer version of root rather than *upgrade*: $ rpm -ivh ftp://ftp.slac.stanford.edu/users/langston/root/root-2.23.04-1.i386.rpm $ rpm -ivh ftp://ftp.slac.stanford.edu/users/langston/root/root-examples-2.23.04-1.i386.rpm -- Matthew D.
