On a Unix platform, one can use the GNU utility `gettext' and related
C libraries to do the text translation. Using these scheme, the user
only has to set the environment variable "`LANG' to the appropiate
value e.g., `ru' for Russian, `fr' for French, `de' for German, `da'
for Danish, and so on. If `LANG' isn't set, it defaults to `C' which
most often is the same as `en'. You should read the GNU Info page on
Gettext for more on this, avaliable via `info Gettext' in any xterm,
or `C-h C-i m Gettext' in Emacs.

Wether this is avaliable using Microsoft Visual C++, I don't know. I
guess if you use Cygnus' Cygwin, it's there, but I'm not 100% sure. On
that note: Why doesn't the ROOT team support that environment on
Windows NT/95/98/2000?. What I mean by support, is to provide binaries
for that arhitecture, using the Cygnus GCC compiler. I guess the only
minor adjustments to a Linux Makefile is needed e.g., use `dlltool'
instead of `g++' to make the dynamical loadable libraries. I've very
little idea of what should be changed in the code, but I believe it's
not that much.

Cheers,
