Hi Charles, We support two Linux versions on our Download site. You do not specify which one you have taken. As indicated in the Download page, if your OS or compiler do not match the versions of our binaries, you have to reinstall from source. see http://root.cern.ch/root/Install.html for instructions for installing from source.
